The Casa de la Guerra has been at the heart of Santa Barbara's history since its construction in the 1820s. Built by Presidio Comandant Jose de la Guerra, the Casa was the economic, political and social center of the pueblo of Santa Barbara. Today the restored home is a museum featuring original furnishings, a history of the de la Guerra family, and temporary exhibitions.

The Santa Barbara Historical Museum is home to the permanent "History of Santa Barbara" exhibit, as well as rotating exhibitions in the museum's Sala.  The Museum has hosted the paintings and etchings of Henry Chapman Ford, Frank WIldes Thompson's maritime art, and John Edward Borein's western etchings, watercolors and oils.

Founded in 1916, it is Santa Barbara’s oldest museum. The museum maintains a scientific collection of more than three million specimens and offers educational programs for children and adults. The Museum includes the John and Peggy Maximus Gallery. Santa Barbara Art Student League is a collaborative project with local artist Ray Strong and the Museum. The Museum League sponsors the Annual fall “ArtWalk” on the museum’s grounds. directions

Dedicated to the art of America’s wilderness, the Wildling Art Museum’s unique exhibitions bring the grandeur and diversity of our country’s wild spaces to the public.
