Cathedral Oaks Nursery School Gate,
By the local company Hendrix Manufacturing (1999/2000). Symbolizes the gateway to childhood, and the joy and learning that they will encounter when they enter through it. The birds represent freedom of the children's minds to soar to unrestricted heiights. The gate was dedicated to Wendy Hendrix's brother who died at a young age in a car accident. Las Aves - It is Raining,
fountain, by artist Marge Dunlap. This was the first piece of contemporary art to pass the City of Santa Barbara's review process. Dunlap's works are about people, and as she once pointed out: "rain falls on everybody." It is composed of fragments of ceramic mementos, broken bits of favorite plates or cups, many donated by local residents. They are embedded in plaster. The words, "It's Raining" are etched in 39 languages. In the courtyard of of Las Aves, at the corner of Las Patos Way and Channel Drive, Santa Barbara. (Click for more details.) directions
